Investing in the Next Generation: Asamaka Industries at the WECF 5th Annual Scholarship Breakfast

On the morning of June 26, 2026, something quietly significant took place at the Essex Golf and Country Club in Windsor, Ontario.

Thirty-six students from across Windsor and Essex County walked into a room full of donors, community leaders, and families, and walked out as scholarship recipients. Together, they were awarded more than $89,000 in scholarships to support their post-secondary education. Each number behind that total represents a young person whose ambition was taken seriously, whose potential was recognised, and whose future was given a stronger foundation. We were proud to be among the contributors who made that morning possible.

Among the students honoured at the WindsorEssex Community Foundation’s (WECF) 5th Annual Scholarship Breakfast was Fareedah Usman, the recipient of the Asamaka Industries Scholarship. Fareedah embodies exactly the qualities this scholarship was created to recognise: self-motivation, intellectual ambition, and a genuine commitment to building something meaningful with her education. Seeing her recognised in that room, surrounded by a community that believes in her future, was a moment we will carry with pride across our entire team. Fareedah, from all of us at Asamaka Industries across Canada, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States, congratulations. This is just the beginning.

The Asamaka Industries Scholarship Fund, established through the WindsorEssex Community Foundation, is a direct expression of that belief. The WindsorEssex Community Foundation brought together students, donors, families, and community leaders on June 26 for its 5th Annual Scholarship Breakfast, held at Essex Golf and Country Club. The event recognised 36 outstanding students from across Windsor and Essex County, who collectively received more than $89,000 in scholarships to support their post-secondary education goals.

Many of the scholarships were established in honour or memory of loved ones, transforming personal legacies into lasting support for future generations. It is a model of community investment that we are honoured to be part of.

For more than 40 years, the WindsorEssex Community Foundation has invested in local initiatives that strengthen Windsor-Essex, and the Annual Scholarship Breakfast stands as one of the most visible expressions of that commitment. We often talk about the systems and technologies that power modern manufacturing. But behind every PLC programme, every digital twin, every automation project is a person who decided to pursue engineering, and who, at some point, needed someone to believe in their potential.
